his experience from different cultures, places, and perspectives into his writing. He has been published in magazines, textbooks, and research articles.

Two examples from Patrick's portfolio can be seen below: 'Casa-Pluto' a whimsical play in "MYP Interact", and "International Relations", a more serious historical overview of attempts at international cooperation from the French Revolution to the successes and failures of the United Nations.

Patrick does not always write in the third person, but when he does, he invites you to follow his blog Edu-Take Away and join him on twitter @Patrickjsweene7

MYP Interact

MYP Interact is a student facing workbook designed to introduce grade 6 students to the IB Middle Years Program. It includes engaging activities and inquiries, including an introduction to Approaches to Learning.  It has sold over 60,000 copies and is published in English and French.

Patrick contributed the Chapter "Casa-Pluto", a play based on the story of Casablanca set on Pluto. Upon finding out that Pluto is no longer a planet, Rick teams up with the head waiter Carl, the Chief Inspector, and his old friend Isla to find the last space flight tickets off of Pluto.

This story takes a light-hearted look at 'fixed knowledge' and 'absolute truth' in a post-modern world where the skills a learner uses are more important than received knowledge.

Below is a selection from Scene Three, in which Rick hears that Pluto is no longer a planet. He has to use his information literacy skills to find out what is true, and what is-gasp- 'FakeNews'

"International Relations: the rise of international cooperation"

Patrick's work with Pearson Publishing includes the chapter "International Relations: The rise of international cooperation" part of the Pearson Publishing International Humanities Pilot. This is a historical overview of the attempts that have been made at international cooperation. It takes the reader on a journey from the end of the French Revolution to the successes and failures of the United Nations. It even looks to the 1870's for the answers to such contemporary questions as 'who should control the Crimean Peninsula'? And, 'to what extent can news media really be trusted'?

The student facing text is designed for year 10 students to help prepare them for the rigors of IB Diploma History.

Patrick's contributions include:
